To chooses what I felt was the right logo for my ride, I drew out different types of logos. My partner in the project also drew a few images to find out which ones we felt would be great for our ride.

In the end we chose this image. We drew it out properly and then scanned it onto the computer, where Beth colour it in and brought it to life. To do this, we used photoshop. We decided to add a slogan at the end to make it more realistic.

This logo was used in all our presentations and also in the posters. We tried to add hints to the logo as to what the new ride would be about. Hence the cloud around the word "vanishhh" and the stars. Also we add the strips to make it look like pyjamas.

Evaluation

Using photoshop is both fun and difficult. Learning to edit the image was fairly difficult as I wasn't sure which tools were which. Also the tools are hard to find. 

Editing the saturation on the image was the hardest one to do. Adding text to the image was easy and choosing how to change the font.  

It was fun to do as there is so much I can learn to edit an image however it takes a lot more work.

I also enjoyed being able to completely change the colour of the image and learning how to put it into a negative effect.

In Conclusion I had fun playing around on photoshop although I did find it difficult in some areas.

Evaluation

For this lesson, we were taught how to make columns and how to place the pictures to make it look like a magazine article. 

I found this easy to do as it is quite basic. It was easy to had the columns as that is basically done for you as long as you know how many you want and the pictures were easy as we had learnt them before. 

I didn't struggle with anything to be honest. I was proud of myself as it was only the second lesson on doing this. I think I found it more easier as it was broken down for me instead of on sheet and following it on the sheet.

My piece of work as a whole I feel it is good... not perfect enough to look professional but I tried my hardest therefore I am happy with it. The reason for it not looking professional is because I am not fully confident on indesign and do not know how to use it properly.

I feel my research was great and that I did have good ideas for what the double page spread could be about. I chose films as I love films and know a lot about them. I had a lot to say but couldn't as it all wouldn't fit so chose a more simple subject. 

I don't like the way it looks to be completely honest. I feel I could have done so much better if I understood indesign. Also I think the layout could have been a lot more presentable but I was not sure how to make the layout. 

Although I have my issues with the work, I am as a whole pleased with it considering it is about something I love and enjoy as well as me putting a lot of effort into it.

Part 2: Layouts and design style of existing DPS

My first example is this article here. I like that it is very simple and only has a few colours to the theme. It is eye catching and sexy, which will attract the reader as it has bold writing and a bright red. I also like the font of the article itself, as it is still quite feminine to match Florence Welch. I think some of this was done on Photoshop, such as the photo and the ‘USA’ font in the background. What attracted me were the colour scheme and the big font. It intrigued me and curious as to what it is about. This is extremely influential as something so simple is in fact great. Less is more.

Another example is this article. This is bright and playful. Straight away seeing the colours as well as the artist the reader is attracted to the article. I like how they use many different colours and involves the music she enjoy to listen to. I think this was all done on InDesign, as it is a basic layout. I find this influential, as it is playful and nice to look at. Also the article is about her and the music she enjoys which is different instead of it just being about her life.

This article has that old fashioned look to it. One bright colour, which is very eye gripping. Also the picture of Lady GaGa is different. The article looks like it was done on InDesign. This is influential as yet again it’s so simple and yet intriguing, and I like how they used a big L on the page to represent the artist and catch eyes
